Tēna koe friends and colleagues,
The Minister of Finance released his draft 2016 Budget Policy statement late last year, without any specific mention of tobacco, other than to inflate its price with usual CPI adjustments. The Finance and Expenditure Select Committee has called for submissions on the draft.
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE THIS FRIDAY.
Please find attached the Smokefree Coalition’s submission and feel free to use it as a template or starting point for your own.
It is vital we remain a united voice for action toward the Smokefree 2025 Goal, advocating the most proven effective measures – such as substantial price increases – to our government. Alternatively, if you do not have the resources to make a submissions on behalf of your own organisation, please confirm that you would like to co-sign with me the submission of the Smokefree Coalition.
Hearings for these submissions are presently scheduled for February 10th and as you can see, I have requested to present the Smokefree Coalition’s submission in person.
PLEASE PENCIL THIS DATE AND DELEGATE REPRESENTATIVES TO ATTEND THIS HEARING IN SUPPORT.
LET’S SHOW GOVERNMENT OUR UNITY IN CALLING FOR THIS TOBACCO CONTROL MEASURE.
